Though at first glance it might look like jasper, rhyolite is an igneous rock with high silica content- chemically identical to granite. The stone’s mossy greens, browns and grays are reminiscent of a rain-forest, and it presents interesting banding. Because this stone is fine crystalline granite it is relatively durable, however this gemstone may dull with excessive exposure to sunlight, heat and water.
